LARGE HAND-FORMED STONEWARE CENTERPIECE BOWL
Big, beautiful, wonderfully imperfect—and made to be used.
This substantial 11-12inch handmade stoneware bowl is one of those pieces that can live in the center of your table every day and then become a generous serving bowl when family and friends gather.
Each bowl is individually hand formed, giving it the wonderfully organic shape and softly undulating rim that simply can't be duplicated by a mold or factory-made piece.
The interior is finished in my warm, creamy speckled White River Pottery studio glaze. The glaze continues over the rim and flows irregularly down the upper exterior, where soft variations of cream, oatmeal and subtle earthy tones meet the exposed natural stoneware below. There may be hints of color in the glaze flow…it’s all up to the kiln!
I deliberately leave part of the exterior clay visible. I love the contrast between the finished glaze and the raw stoneware—and the way it allows you to see the marks, movement and character left by the forming process.
No two will ever be exactly alike.

The Beauty of Handmade
Please expect variations in the rim, shape, glaze movement, speckling and exposed stoneware from one bowl to another.
Those differences are intentional.
I don't try to make my pottery perfectly round or perfectly uniform. I want you to see the hand of the maker and the movement of the clay. Each is an original, one-of-a-kind piece with its own character and story.
I have been an artist and potter for over 60 years, and I hope you find a piece that speaks to you. I find that they each have their own language, and the clay and glazes find their own path.

When I was a little girl, my grandma had a stoneware bowl that she used every time she was about to bake something special. Every time she pulled it out, I knew she was about to pour a lot of love into something. Decades have gone by, and I don’t have that bowl, but this one reminds me of it so much! I love how beautiful and solid it is, and its hand-crafted imperfections make it all the more perfect to me!
